Poster Youth On Stage: October 25
Featuring violinist Emmanuel Villarin
and Gabriel Allan Paguirigan, piano
13 year-old violinist Emanuel started his violin lessons at the age of four with Ms. Sara Maria Gonzales.  In 2013, at the age of 10, he won the Second Prize at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) for Solo Violin Category A held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  The following year EJ was featured in Promil’s “Gifted” TV and Print Advertisements.  He was also heard as guest performer in DZFE  Radio Station’s ”Bravo Filipino” program.

In 2016,  EJ passed “A Nationwide Search for Young Arts Scholars” of the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) and is now on his 2nd year at the school. After competitive auditions, EJ was selected to perform the Mozart Violin Concerto in D Major at the Young Artists Gala Concert of the Asia Region Suzuki Conference held in Bali, Indonesia.  EJ also performed in China as part of the Philippine delegation for a cultural exchange program.

EJ is a pioneering member of the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) where he plays first violin and is a frequently featured soloist.  Just last July, the MSJO won 2nd prize at the Summa Cum Laude International Music Festival held at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria and had concert tours around, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Munich.  EJ’s solo performance of Pe Loc from Bartok’s Rumanian Folk Dances earned special commendation from the board of judges consisting of top classical music personalities from all over the world.

EJ had masterclasses with renowned pedagogues and violinists such as Christoph Poppen, Paul Landefeld, Iskandar Widjaja, Mark Mutter, Alexandra Bartoi and Rebecca Schlappich.

EJ continues to serve as violinist during the weekly Sunday mass in Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish, Muntinlupa City.
