Don't miss the upcoming debut recital of the one of the most promising young cellist in the country today, Damodar Das Castillo in Ayala Museum's Youth in Motion series on October 25, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.

Cellist Damodar Das Castillo started learning the cello at the age of five.  In 2015, he joined the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) and became its youngest member (age of seven),  he was also asked to be their featured soloist frequently.  He started taking formal lessons with Dr. Renato Lucas in 2016 and won 2nd prize at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Junior Strings Category, the youngest winner for that year.  2017 has been a busy year for Damodar, he had several performances most notably at the ASEAN Summit,  his solo performance with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO),  he was featured at a popular TV show called Little Big Shots Philippines.  He also won the the 1st place at the North International Music Competition, an international online competition.

Damodar is part of the MSJO that won 1st place at the 2018 Summa Cum Laude Music Festival held at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, Vienna, Austria.  He played Haydn Cello Concerto during MSJO's concert tour in Vienna, Salzburg, Florence and Rome.  He is recently got accepted to study at the Pre-college of the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria under the sponsorship of Standard Insurance.  He will start this coming Winter Semester.

For the concert,  he will perform music of Schumann, Saint-Seans, Paganini, Rimsky-Korsakof and Morricone.

Ayala Museum's Youth in Motion's main objective is to support and provide perfomance opportunity to our young promising classically trained Filipino musicians.  The series is made possible in partnership with Lyric Piano, DZFE.FM 98.7 and Cultural Arts Events Organizer.
