Pirates, Mermaids and Musical Treasures, A Halloween Family Concert
Greetings from the Cultural Center of the Philippines!
It is our pleasure to present Pirates, Mermaids and Musical Treasures, A Halloween Family Concert on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 6 PM at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater). This special concert is designed to appeal to very young children and is a wonderful way of introducing youngsters to the wonderful world of classical music in a fun and endearing way.
On stage to perform a specially selection of well-loved classics is The Metro Manila Community Orchestra (MMCO) under the direction of Captain Josefino Chino Toledo. They will perform lively and comedic music amidst a fantastic underwater setting that will surely make the music come alive. Highlighting the repertoire are compositions with nautical and marine themes such as The Little Mermaid, Saint-Saens' Aquarium from 'Carnival of the Animals,' selections from Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, and Handel's Water Music; Offenbach's Can-Can from the 'Orpheus in the Underworld,' and Trenet's La Mer.
We invite you to come and enjoy this unique event which will include pre-concert activities beginning at 4 PM. This pre-concert event will showcase a musical petting zoo, wherein children will be given the chance to touch and even try out different musical instruments facilitated by musicians of the MMCO. Children, their parents and guardians are encouraged to come in costume for the costume parade. The best, the most creative and the best 'under the sea' costume will receive a prize. Last year, a big number of children enjoyed this event as can be seen from the attached montage of photos taken in last year's "Halloween in Space, Journey to the Stars" family concert. This year promises to deliver the same enjoyable and memorable experience for the entire family.
Besides the usual Trick or Treat, children are invited to donate school supplies to be shared with children whose family was affected by typhoon Ondoy. The donation will be coursed through Museo Pambata Foundation.
Regular tickets to the event is set at P500. However, the CCP is giving a special 50% discount for kids and students and 20% discount for senior citizens. We also give group discount to bulk purchase of tickets. You may also avail a VIP Box (with 6 seats) exclusively for your family at only P2,500.
